This NFL season has been a predictably unpredictable one so far. Of course, the biggest teams like the Patriots and Packers have recorded successive victories and sit at the top of their respective divisional tables, as many would have expected before the season began. However, some wild cards have emerged and a few unexpected results have shaken things up throughout both conferences. If you want to make some cash on the NFL, it’s important to do your research and choose the right bets. Last week, for example, you might have seen that the Seahawks were 7.5 favorites to beat the Panthers, and obviously that didn’t quite work out as planned for anyone who placed a bet. Let’s look at the biggest games in Week 7 and identify the bets that have the best chances of winning you some money.
The next week of competition will begin with a clash in the NFC West featuring the Seahawks travelling to the 49ers. Both teams have had rough seasons so far and have notched up 2-4 records, seeing them sitting side by side at the bottom of the division. Despite the fact that Seattle have struggled to get going this year, they still have to be rated as favorites for this game. They’re 8-0 against the spread in the last eight games against San Francisco, so it’s the perfect occasion for Pete Carroll’s men to turn their fortunes around and put on a show. They’re currently being rated as 5.5 point favorites and we’d class that as a good pick. Despite their poor campaign, they only lost very narrowly in their last two games against the Panthers and Bengals. Meanwhile, the 49ers have failed to assert themselves throughout much of the season.
Up next there’s an NFC North clash between the Lions and the Vikings. The Lions just earned a good win against the Bears, their first victory of the season, but they are still underdogs when compared to the Vikings. To make matters worse, the Detroit squad has a terrible record against the Minnesota team, going 1-16 in their last 17 clashes. Their recent home record makes for more pleasant reading for Lions fans, with the team notching a respectable 6-2 record in their last 8 games. However, the Vikings have been looking strong with a 3-2 record so far this season and will want to push on with another victory here.
Another division clash sees the Patriots going up against the Jets in a particularly mouth-watering AFC East encounter. Anyone would agree that the Patriots have been, as expected, one of the most impressive teams so far this season and are currently enjoying a 5-0 record at the top of the division. That said, the Jets are close behind them with a solid 4-1 season so far and have been doing very well on the road. The Patriots are still naturally being classed as 10-point favorites but it wouldn’t be surprising to see a reasonably close affair between these two teams.
This weekend, fans can also enjoy two other divisional clashes. There’s the Chargers vs the Raiders. The Chargers put up a good fight against the Packers in their latest loss, while the Oakland squad have had a bit of extra rest time to prepare for this matchup. We’ll also be able to watch the Cowboys play the Giants on Sunday night. Matt Cassel will be installed as QB for the Cowboys, who will hope to pile the misery on a Giants team that struggled desperately in a 27-7 loss to the Eagles recently.
The Colts will be going up against the Saints in a rather interesting matchup this weekend. Naturally, this game has lost a bit of the spark it might normally have had since both teams have struggled to impose themselves this season. However, the Colts recently went on a good three-match unbeaten run that was ended by the Patriots in Week 6. They’ll hope to get back to winning ways against the New Orleans squad, but this match could be decided by the signal callers. Andrew Luck and Drew Brees will definitely be the men to keep an eye on for this game. Indianapolis are 5-point favorites but it could be a high-scoring affair that might go either way.
The Arizona Cardinals should have little trouble dealing with the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football. The Baltimore squad have at least managed to win one game so far this season, but they’ve been relatively week overall. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are top of the NFC West division with a solid 4-2 record. They’ve got a very respectable 8-2 record in their last 10 home games, so this one should be little more than a formality. Arizona are being installed as 7.5-point favorites and that’s one of the most reliable bets you’ll find this weekend.
The Dolphins will be matching up against the Texans, with the latter team really struggling to get going so far this season, despite a win against the Jaguars in Week 6. Miami are being rated as 4.5 favorites for that game. The Rams have the exact same rating at home against the Browns. Finally, we have an interesting overseas game taking place this weekend. The Buffalo Bills will meet the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. Buffalo are 4-point favorites for that game and will hope to put on a good show for NFL fans in the United Kingdom.
