Our Top Plays for the Week 3 Primetime Slate on Fan Picks
The third week of the college football slate is loaded with great matchups, and this primetime slate is no exception. It starts with an SEC showdown in Alabama at Ole Miss, includes two Pac-12 vs Big-10 showdowns, and is loaded with talented offenses from the top of the slate to the bottom. Here are the teams Vegas has given the highest totals to for this week 3 primetime slate:
Week 3 Primetime Quarterbacks
Fan Picks Salary – $7,500
While the pricing overall this week is slightly better, this is still a slate where you can pay up for the top two quarterbacks on the board. Flowers has hit value for his current salary in 9 straight games. He went for 30 against Syracuse last season, and boasts a similar skill set to LJ… who had 100 points aginst ‘cuse last week.
Fan Picks Salary – $7,400
I don’t believe this Mike Riley Nebraska team, led by Tommy Armstrong, is any different than last season’s. What does that mean? Defensively, they are dominant against the run, and a complete disaster against the pass. The Oregon receiving corps is as good as advertised, and this Nebraska secondary was 122nd nationally last year, allowing over 290 YPG.
Fan Picks Salary – $4,800
If you are looking for a cheaper option at QB, Garretson is our favorite play. After throwing for 225 and 3 touchdowns against a really good Minnesota secondary, he should be able to hit those numbers in the first half against Idaho State.
Week 3 Primetime Running Backs
Fan Picks Salary – $5,800
Last week was undeniably frustrating for Dayes owners… He hit 100 yards on 13 carries, but finished the game with just 18 touches for 118 total yards. Given the fact that this game could get ugly, we think he ends up with around 18 touches again this week, but should be able to convert that into over 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Fan Picks Salary – $5,100
Carney was the guy that jumped out when we first glanced at this slate. He should continue to dominate the workload in the Wake backfield, and lord knows this team can not pass. Delaware has a potent running game of their own, so this one likely wont’t get too ugly, but we like Carney to have a big game against an FCS opponent.
Stanley Boom Williams
Fan Picks Salary – $3,800
Anytime New Mexico State is on a slate, you have to circle their opponent as a spot for value. Boom Williams is only $3,800, but he’s the heart and sole of the Kentucky offense. Not only does he lead the team in carries, but is the 3rd most targeted receiver as well. Last season NM State was in the bottom 10 nationally against both the run and pass. Easy play here.
Week 3 Primetime Wide Receivers
Fan Picks Salary – $7,700
With so much value at running back, you can certainly afford to pay up at receiver in this slate. South Florida’s pass defense has looked improved this year (245 YPG last season), but they haven’t faced an aerial attack like Dungey and Etta-Tawo. With two monster performances to kick start his season, including a 32 point performance against Louisville, we are rolling out Etta-Tawo against the Bulls in week 3.
Fan Picks Salary – $6,500
Corey Davis has proven time and time again that he is all but matchup proof, so seeing a Big 10 opponent certainly doesn’t scare us off from starting him. We didn’t know what to expect from Lovie Smith’s defense, but clearly they aren’t grasping his cover 2 as of yet, Mitch Trubisky made 19/24 for 265 yards and 2 touchdowns look easy last week. Look for Davis to be busy in a game where Western is favored and projected to score 30.
Fan Picks Salary – $3,700
Chesson is just too good of a value at $3,700. He is an NFL-ready receiver with elite speed, but hasn’t scored yet this season so Fan Picks has him way undervalued at $3,700. Look for Chesson to get his against Colorado in what should be another bloodbath in Ann Arbor this Saturday.
Fan Picks Salary – $2,200
Villamin is another receiver who’s value does reflect the player… One of the top receivers in CFB, Villamin is easily the number one receiver in what will be a much improved Oregon State offense. He was injured early against Minnesota, but has practiced in full for the past week, is a huge target, a matchup nightmare, and should have a monster game against Idaho State.
Week 3 Primetime Tight Ends
Fan Picks Salary – $6,100
Jaylen Samuels is a touchdown machine and be started as such… To be fair, we also have a set of lineups with Jake Butt at tight end, but again with a ton of value at RB and WR, we are willing to pay up for one of the top 2 tight ends. If you are looking for a value or play with lower ownership here, check out Hayden Hurst. He was targeted 17 times against Vandy and Miss State, but should find much easier sledding this week against ECU.
