NFL Week 15 Waiver Wire Targets
The NFL regular season is coming to a close and many fantasy players will already be thinking ahead to the playoffs. Even at a time like this, it can be interesting to stay on the lookout for some waiver wire pickups. These players aren’t going to make or break your season, but they can provide some much-needed stability. A good waiver wire player can act as a backup for one of your bigger players or potentially earn you some big points with a good matchup. Today, we’ll take a look at some players who could still provide some value for your roster.
Denard Robinson, Jacksonville Jaguars
With a 0.5 ownership rating, the Jaguars RB isn’t one of the biggest names on the roster. However, when T.J. Yeldon suffered an injury against the Colts recently, it was Robinson who filled that role and put up some decent numbers. He got a touchdown in that game, as well as 14 carries for 75 yards. If Yeldon continues to struggle then Robinson may get some bonus time on the field as the season winds down.
Bryce Brown, Seattle Seahawks
Brown is owned by just 0.3% of players, but he’s another running back who is trying to take advantage of a situation caused by injury. The Seahawks lost Thomas Rawls in the game against the Ravens and will be looking to Brown to step up. He should be relied upon in the short-term and might be a decent pick for your squad.
Tim Hightower, New Orleans Saints
This running back is owned by 4.3% of players and is clearly the top choice for the Saints to fill in for Mark Ingram. He got a lot of touches in the game against the Buccaneers and put in a better performance than his closest rival for the RB role, C.J. Spiller. He needs to improve some aspects of his game, particularly his running, but he has done enough to earn some opportunities.
Brandon Bolden, New England Patriots
Another running back, this time owned by 2.6% of fantasy players. Once again, we’re looking at a player who has benefited from an injury to one of his teammates. LeGarrette Blount damaged his hip in the latest game against the Texans and Bolden filled his shoes very well. He did well with the ball and got plenty of touches. Blount seems to be quite badly injured so there’s a good chance that Bolden will appear again soon.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, New York Jets
Fitzpatrick is owned by 22.9% of players, making him a relatively popular pick. The quarterback has really excelled in the last few games, earning plenty of fantasy points for owners. The Jets are looking strong offensively and Fitzpatrick can keep on enjoying that as the season comes to a close. A Week 15 matchup against the Cowboys might be tricky, but Fitzpatrick is playing very well right now.
Darren Sproles, Philadelphia Eagles
Owned by 30.4% of players, Sproles is quite a common pick in fantasy leagues, and with good reason. He’s been quite an influential player for the Eagles in recent times and has been reaching the end zone quite regularly. He’s been earning plenty of fantasy points in the last few weeks and he has a favorable matchup against the Cardinals on the horizon.
Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks
With an 8.6% ownership rating, Lockett really deserves to be a part of your roster. Last week, he had a fantastic game with 104 yards and a couple of touchdowns too. After Jimmy Graham got taken out for the rest of the season, Lockett stepped up in dominant fashion and has some interesting matchups coming up. If you’re in need of a reliable WR to put up some points, Lockett is a top choice.
Albert Wilson, Kansas City Chiefs
Wilson has the lowest ownership rating on our list today at just 0.1%. The Chiefs aren’t known for their offensive strength, and most fantasy fans tend to choose Jeremy Maclin in favor of Wilson. However, in terms of potential for explosive plays and big games, Wilson is worth taking a risk on. He’s had 43 targets this season and shown glimpses of his ability now and then. If he plays well, he can earn you a nice amount of fantasy points.
Eric Ebron, Detroit Lions
You might be on the lookout for a tight end this week and Ebron is a reasonable candidate. He’s had a mixed season but has the ability to perform very well in favorable matchups. He’ll be going up against the Saints in Week 15 and that’s definitely a good sign for the 22-year old. The Saints have been poor against tight ends this season and Ebron will hope to take advantage of that.
Cameron Artis-Payne, Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have been one of the best teams in the NFL but Artis-Payne isn’t a popular pick with just 0.3% of fantasy players owning him. That said, Jonathan Stewart has suffered a foot injury and the time may therefore be right for Artis-Payne to make his mark. He could be an influential player in the remaining games of the season.
Ted Ginn, Carolina Panthers
Another Panthers player, Ginn is owned by 13% of fantasy players. Last week, Ginn managed 2 touchdowns and 120 yards for just 2 receptions. That’s an incredible level of efficiency. If he can see more of the ball, he could put up some huge figures. Any player would benefit from playing alongside Cam Newton and Ginn is one of them. He still has the potential to disappoint, but his high ceiling means he could give your roster a big boost.
Kamar Aiken, Baltimore Ravens
Finally we have Aiken with a 15.8% ownership rating. The Ravens WR is in very good form, having caught 5+ passes for over 50 yards in most of his recent games. He’s not an explosive player, but he’s reliable. He touches the ball often and can earn plenty of points for receptions.
