Top Bargains for FanDuel NFL Week 2 Contests

Top Week 2 Quarterback Bargain Plays

Trevor Siemian

FanDuel Salary : $6,400

This matchup is obviously one that we love. Stafford was our top QB target last week against the beat up Colts secondary, which lost another two starters in that week one game. While CJ Anderson is the obvious play, we think Kubiak opens up the offense and lets Siemian get rolling here. At $6,400, he only has to go for 225 and 2 touchdowns to reach value, and he looks like he will give you an addition 2 points per week with his legs.

Josh McCown

FanDuel Salary : $6,000

RGIII sold tickets, but Josh McCown will win games for the Browns. We think McCown can step into Hue Jackson’s offense and be a fantasy-relevant quarterback this week. Baltimore will get pressure on him, so look for him to get the ball out fast… That means Corey Coleman and Gary Barnidge are both sleeper picks this week.

Top Week 2 Running Back Bargain Plays

Matt Jones

FanDuel Salary : $6,200

There are really five running backs in the $6,200-$6,700 range that should be in your lineups this week, and the other four are much more obvious: despite their backfield mates having multi touchdown games, Abdullah and Woodhead dominated snap counts and had great games themselves, Langford looks like a work horse back who has his best days ahead of him yet, and Yeldon is a lock if Ivory is out. Jones is going to fly under the radar here, but we like that. He will have low ownership % and we think he is not only much more active this week, but has the best matchup of the group. We simply aren’t buying this Dallas defense whatsoever.

Shane Vereen

FanDuel Salary : $5,100

Shane Vereen is as far down as you can go on the FanDuel running back pool and still find a start-worthy player. Vereen played just 8 fewer snaps than starter Rashad Jennings, and his 3 receptions is about as low as he will go this season. While this game won’t match last season’s thriller, we think Vereen will be the busier of the Giants backs. The Giants run blocking is not what it seemed last week, and the Saints run defense is much improved from last year. If Jennings is ineffective, the Giants could turn to their passing game sooner rather than later. Vereen had 8 catches for 60 yards and a touchdown in this matchup last season.

Top Week 2 Wide Receiver Bargain Plays

Devin Funchess

FanDuel Salary : $5,700

Boom or bust, let’s go. From all accounts throughout camp, Funchess was the best Panthers receiver, report after report had Funchess not only pushing Benjamin, but shredding up the Panthers defense. Fast forward to week one, we have a coming out party for Benjamin and Funchess plays less snaps than Corey Brown. That changes this week. This guy is too talented for Carolina not to include him in the game plan. Look for the 49ers to roll coverage over Benjamin, and for Funchess to make them pay throughout this game. Looking for an off the radar play with huge upside? A Cam/Funchess stack is only $14,400 and could be the top one in this slate.

Tyrell Williams

FanDuel Salary : $5,400

I am genuinely excited about the potential Tyrell Williams has in this offense. He is a big body, possession receiver that has big play ability, speed, and could be a red zone target. I feel like Rivers and co. know what they have in Travis Benjamin, and it’s not Keenan Allen. If someone is going to fill his shoes on the outside, it’s not going to be a 75 year old Antonio Gates or 5’1″ 115 pound Travis Benjamin. Williams is worth a flyer in a favorable matchup here.

Quinton Patton

FanDuel Salary : $4,800

This is a tough matchup to get behind, but we love Patton at $4,800 and even if you don’t start him this week, he should be on your radar. The Panthers secondary is slightly overrated, they have lost a ton of talent and on paper are one of the worst in the league. Obviously scheme makes up for some of that, but we still don’t hate the matchup here. We also expect the Panthers to get up big, and know that Chip will have the 49ers playing fast. Patton is a sneaky play here and is way undervalued, he is the 49ers receiver to own.

Top Week 2 Tight End Bargain Plays

Eric Ebron

FanDuel Salary : $5,500

If you followed our articles last week, or throughout the offseason, you know just how high we are on Ebron. The Lions view him as a goto player in their passing game, and he will not only be their top red zone target, but will be used in the screen game and will split out and get down field targets as well. We saw just the tip of the Ebron iceberg in week one.

Dennis Pitta

FanDuel Salary : $4,800

Pitta not only started and looked good in week one, but he was on the field for well over 80% of the Ravens offensive plays. We know he has ball skills and has at times in his short career been one of the more productive tight ends in football. The Browns allowed Eagles tight ends to catch 7 of 8 targets for 69 yards in week one. Pitta is a nice sleeper play, just $300 above the FanDuel minimum salary.
