Let’s Get Ready for Week 17 on FanDuel
Week 17 is a very exciting time for daily fantasy football enthusiasts, and FanDuel has an absolutely loaded slate of contests. While divisional titles have already been won and most playoff places have been clinched, there’s still time for plenty of surprises in the final week of regular season play.
Some of the bigger teams might decide to rest a few starters while other, less commonly-used players might have a chance to make a name for themselves. This is a great opportunity for fantasy fans to make some exciting changes to their rosters and take a few risks.
Week 17 is especially interesting for the amount of choice it has to offer DFS players. Lots of teams and individual players will all be battling to end the season on a high note, so there are plenty of options available to you. Even the players of teams who aren’t really playing for anything this week will still be putting in plenty of effort to keep their market values high.
Some guys will have contracts that are about to expire and will be doing all they can to impress any potential new owners. If you’re a FanDuel player, here are the best guys to add to your roster.
Week 17 FanDuel Quarterbacks
Our number one quarterback pick is the Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger. Big Ben didn’t do too well last week, but he’s been one of the best signal callers in the NFL this season. The Steelers are still challenging for a playoff spot and have a good matchup against the Browns. They’ll be looking to Roethlisberger to control the game and he could be a great fantasy selection. Other interesting quarterback selections would be Cam Newton and Tom Brady. Newton probably represents the better pick as he’ll be going up against a relatively weak Tampa Bay squad. Meanwhile, Brady will be playing against the Dolphins.
If you’re looking to save a bit of money to spend in other positions, you might consider Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford or Matt Ryan as your signal caller for Week 17. Cousins’ contract is running out, so he’ll be vying to impress coaches in this final game of the Redskins’ regular season. Stafford’s Lions have an interesting clash against local rivals the Chicago Bears. Finally, Ryan usually does well against the Saints and will be hoping to help the Falcons finish the season in positive fashion.
Week 17 FanDuel Running Backs
The RB with the best chance of giving your lineup a final boost is Adrian Peterson. He’ll be matching up against the Green Bay Packers for a postseason spot. The last time he found himself in that situation, he scored a couple of touchdowns and put up 199 yards. Some other interesting selections would include Todd Gurley, who has a very favorable matchup against the 49ers, or Devonta Freeman, who has been very impressive in recent games. If none of these guys interest you particularly, check out DeAngelo Williams or Chris Ivory.
Week 17 FanDuel Wide Receivers
Our most exciting pick in the WR role is DeAndre Hopkins. He’s been the best WR in the entire NFL all season and has a very nice matchup against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns defense has been very poor, while the Steelers are going to pull out all the stops to win this game. Expect to see plenty of points, with Brown leading the way. Some other intriguing WR options are Julio Jones and Calvin Johnson. Jones’ team won’t be playing for much but he’ll surely take the opportunity to finish the season in style. Meanwhile, Johnson has been finding form lately and will hope to continue his streak in Week 17 in a tricky matchup against the Bears.
You may also want to consider DeAndre Hopkins or DeSean Jackson, with both having potential to perform well in their last week matchups. It’s worth pointing out that Odell Beckham Jr. always looks like an excellent fantasy selection, but you may want to consider dropping him in Week 17. The Giants may choose to rest their star man, or at least limit his workload as the season draws to a close.
Week 17 FanDuel Tight Ends
Our number one TE selection is Travis Kelce. Easily one of the most impressive tight ends of the season, Kelce has been a rock for the Chiefs who are still in the race for the AFC West divisional title. He’ll be going up against the Raiders who have been very weak against TEs this season, forfeiting a huge total of 11 touchdowns. Greg Olsen and Rob Gronkowski are also solid TE picks for your rosters. They each have decent matchups, but the better option might be Delanie Walker. Walker’s Titans will be playing against the Colts and this matchup will suit him well. Fantasy owners may also want to take a look at Gary Barnidge or Kyle Rudolph to fill the TE role.
FanDuel Week 17 Defenses
The defense is always a tricky position as the season ends, but there are some pretty obvious choices this year. The Rams should absolutely dominate the 49ers, so they’re the best selection, but the Bengals and Patriots have great matchups too. Denver have a very important matchup against the Chargers, so they should be giving it their all and might prove to be a good selection. Finally, the Redskins’ defense has been great statistically in recent games and will hope to continue that form in Week 17.
