Get Ready for NFS Week 6 Contests on FanDuel
We have nicknamed week 6 ‘running back week’ as at least 8 (Bell, Murray, Anderson, Gurley, McCoy, Howard, Miller, and Michael) of the top 10 backs in fantasy football have favorable matchups. I think you have to start two RB’s from this group, meaning we need to identify value plays at QB, WR, and TE. We think we have identified the top targets for this week 6 FanDuel slate.
FanDuel NFL Week 6 Quarterbacks
Best Bet: Carson Palmer – $7,700
Carson Palmer isn’t off to the best start this season, but really he had just one truly disappointing performance and that was in Buffalo against a pretty solid defense. It should also be said that John Brown wasn’t healthy to start the season, and Michael Floyd hasn’t been right yet this year. The Jets are giving up all sorts of passing yardage, but their front 7 is still solid, meaning David Johnson won’t be able to get going like he did against the 49ers. We are betting that both Palmer and Floyd rebound this week and have their best games of the young season against what is currently the worst secondary in football.
Best Value: Trevor Siemian – $7,300
There is a big group of value QB’s worth your attention this week: Siemian, Hoyer, Osweiler, and Smith to name a few. Siemian is our pick of the bunch, because of the matchup. The Chargers are allowing the 6th most FanDuel PPG to opposing quarterbacks, and Denver will come in hungry for a win after suffering their first loss of the season. The Broncos defense will likely give up some points on the road here, but won’t allow Rivers to sustain too many long drives that eat up the clock. Siemian is a pretty safe bet to reach value this week with at least 20 points here.
FanDuel NFL Week 6 Running Backs
Best Bet: Le’Veon Bell – $9,300
We went back and forth between a few players here… You have to like Todd Gurley going up against a beat up Detroit defense, LeSean McCoy against a 49ers team that has given up 28 FanDuel PPG to opposing RB’s over the past four weeks, and Christine Michael is actually averaging more points than Bell as a starter. However, Le’Veon is averaging over 20 FanDuel PPG this season, without a touchdown! Ben has vultured all of the scores in Bell’s first two games, but we think that changes this week. Look for 150+ yards and 2 touchdowns out of the best fantasy RB on the planet.
Best Value: Chris Ivory – $5,400
I don’t love any of the value plays on the board this week, but have a good feeling about Chris Ivory and James White. White has already seen his workload tick up this year, and we get the feeling Ivory is about to. The Jags defense has been solid all season, they just find themselves in a similar situation as Tampa where they can’t trust their QB to throw it 30 times without a handful of turnovers. They stated all offseason they wanted to be a power running team, at one point predicting a 60/40 split for Ivory. He’s too talented a runner, and a perfect fit for the vision Bradley has for this team. The time is coming and a road matchup with the Bears may be just what Ivory needed to get going.
FanDuel NFL Week 6 Wide Receivers
Best Bet: DeAndre Hopkins – $8,100
I think Landry is the safe play this week, he’s going to see a ton of targets against a somewhat suspect Patriots secondary. However, Nuk is the upside play. The Texans know and have stated that they need to get Hopkins the ball more, and having that mentality heading into a can’t-miss matchup with the Colts has Hopkins lined up to have a massive week 6. I think he’s even more attractive on DraftKings, where his price has dipped to $7,500, but we will have him on both sites this week.
>Best Value: Tavon Austin – $5,700
As a Lions fan, it kills me to admit it, but Detroit is going to struggle to contain Austin this week. The Lion’s slot corners are a backup safety (whichever one is healthy) and Quandre Diggs, one of the lowest rated corners on PFF. The Lions have solid corners on the outside, but where they are weak happens to be where Austin lines up. We accurately predicted Austin’s big week 3 performance and are on him again this week.
Also worth a look: Jarvis Landry, Michael Floyd, Chris Hogan, Brice Butler, Terrance Williams, and Robert Woods
FanDuel NFL Week 6 Tight Ends
Best Bet: Jimmy Graham – $6,900
With Tyler Lockett playing through a torn PCL, Jimmy Graham has essentially absorbed the WR2 targets in the Seahawks offense. He has responded with back-to-back 100 yard games, and has a dream matchup at home against the Falcons in week 6. Atlanta has allowed over 16 PPG to opposing tight ends this season, and we expect that number to jump up even more with what could be a multi-touchdown game from Jimmy Graham this week.
Best Value: Coby Fleener – $5,600
In addition to Graham, we will have a share in Gronk, Fleener, and Charles Clay on Sunday. Clay is the cheapest play, and best bet to reach at least 2x value. Gronk has the highest scoring upside, but Fleener has the best value upside. Priced at just $5,600, Fleener has top 5 potential every week in the Saints offense. He went over 20 points against the Falcons at home two weeks ago, and this week faces another divisional opponent at home in the Panthers.
