Ingram to Be Bell-Cow in New Orleans
This isn’t a massive surprise, but The Advocate is reporting that Ingram is expected to be the every down back for the Saints this season. We still expect Spiller to earn the 3rd/passing down role, but Ingram should see the lion’s share of carries.
Jennings to Receive 15-18 Carries Per Game for Giants
Again, we expected Jennings to receive the majority of the work for the Giants on 1st and 2nd down, and Vereen to maintain the 3rd down job. The key here will be goal line carries. New York should be a high powered offense again this year, but for Jennings to be really valuable, he will need the goal line work in addition to early down.
Zach Zenner Could be a TD Vulture in Detroit
Zenner’s hard running style and vision was impressive in his limited work for the Lions last season. Look for him to earn and keep the short yardage work in Detroit, with Abdullah getting the majority of RB duties, and Reddick playing on 3rd and passing downs. Zenner will have to continue to hold of Stephen Ridley to keep this job.
Dezmin Lewis Still Hottest Sleeper Name
You may as well cross him off your player list, because Dez Lewis is going to be overdrafted in your fantasy draft. He’s getting an insane amount of publicity for the number 3 receiver in a run-heavy offense that also has Charles Clay. He is certainly an upside play, but his upside is limited by the system, quarterback and role.
Joe Flacco Ahead of Schedule
Ravens coach John Harbaugh stated this past week that Joe Flacco is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn ACL. Harbaugh said Flacco is running well, and wasn’t slated to be running yet. This is news-worthy because the Ravens have given Flacco a revamped set of skill players to work with this season. The Ravens added Mike Wallace on the outside, get Dennis Pitta back, added Ben Watson, and drafted La Tech running back Kenneth Dixon. Ryan Mallett has taken the majority of the Ravens 1st team reps with Flacco out this offseason.
